CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Low-Risk Primary Operator Competence

To meet the required competency of the CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Scheme, technically competent people must demonstrate Primary Competence by completing a CIWM (WAMITAB) qualification or gain additional units which demonstrate they have the knowledge and skills to ensure the waste site complies with Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) and The Waste Management Licensing (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 Regulations.

In some cases for new permits you must gain the 4 specified units within 4 weeks of the permit issue/site becoming operational.

For CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Low Risk activities, the Operator Primary Competence consists of a 4-unit qualification in the following pathways, by selecting the appropriate pathway you will also be able to view the standard rules covered by the qualification:

Types of site activities covered by this pathway include: Use of waste in Construction.

Understanding Low Risk Operator Competence

The Level 4 Low Risk Operator Competence qualification is designed for those responsible for managing waste operations where activities present a moderate level of environmental risk.

As part of the CIWM (WAMITAB) framework, this qualification ensures that technically competent managers understand their responsibilities in relation to compliance, operational control and regulatory requirements.

We support clients across the UK, including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, providing guidance on the most appropriate pathway and qualification structure based on site activity and permit requirements.
