

Primary Competency – CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Scheme – Level 4
To comply with the CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Scheme, technically competent individuals must demonstrate Primary Competence by successfully completing relevant qualifications, units, or training programmes. These qualifications confirm that the individual possesses the necessary knowledge and practical skills to ensure waste sites operate in accordance with the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations and and The Waste Management Licensing (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 Regulations, maintaining legal compliance and environmental integrity.

Which CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Competence Qualification do I need?
Depending on your facility type and EPR you will require to achieve one or more from the below risk tiers. We would always advise clients to check directly with the environment agency as to which CIWM (WAMITAB) Award you need to be compliant with your permit. The schemes fall into 3 Risk Tiers: LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH. The qualification which is required is as per the Facility Environmental Permit that the site is operational.
