

CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Low-Risk Primary Operator Competence
To meet the required competency of the CIWM (WAMITAB) Operator Scheme, technically competent people must demonstrate Primary Competence by completing a CIWM (WAMITAB) qualification or gain additional units which demonstrate they have the knowledge and skills to ensure the waste site complies with Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) and The Waste Management Licensing (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 Regulations.
In some cases for new permits you must gain the 4 specified units within 4 weeks of the permit issue/site becoming operational.
For CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Low Risk activities, the Operator Primary Competence consists of a 4-unit qualification in the following pathways, by selecting the appropriate pathway you will also be able to view the standard rules covered by the qualification:
Operator Competence for Non-Hazardous Waste – LROC1
Types of site activities covered by this pathway include: Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (Storage), Metal Recycling Dry Scrap or In-house Storage of Non-Hazardous Waste.
Operator Competence for Non-Hazardous Treatment to Produce Soil – LROC2
Types of site activities covered by this pathway include: Mobile Plant for treatment of waste to produce soil, soil substitutes and aggregate or Treatment of waste to produce soil, soil substitutes and aggregate.
Operator Competence for Inert Storage and Transfer – LROC3
Types of site activities covered by this pathway include: In-house storage of inert waste or Inert transfer.
Operator Competence for Inert Physical Treatment – LROC4
Types of site activities covered by this pathway include: Inert Physical Treatment.
Operator Competence for Construction Waste – LROC5
Types of site activities covered by this pathway include: Use of waste in Construction.
